Frequently asked questions.

What is therapy?

Therapy, often referred to as counseling or psychotherapy, is a way to work through some problems you might be experiencing. People usually decide to seek therapy when the issues they are trying to cope with become too big for them to handle on their own.

What is online/teletherapy? Is it as effective as in person therapy?

Online therapy is very similar to in-person therapy. Instead of going to a therapist’s office, you meet with the therapist through a secure video platform from the comfort of your own space. You can meet with me through your phone, your tablet, or your computer! The best part is that you can meet with me anywhere that is convenient for you, as long as you are able to maintain privacy. In your car on a lunch break? Great! Poolside? Absolutely! Hiding in the garage with a glass of wine while the kids are taking a nap at 2pm? I got you! And you don’t even have to find a babysitter.

Research shows that teletherapy is just as effective as in person sessions. When I meet with someone online I find they are more comfortable in their own space and tend to open up more, thus building the therapeutic relationship and leading to meaningful growth. Online therapy also eliminates barriers that some clients have to seeking therapy, such as transportation or finding a babysitter.

What states do you serve?

I am currently accepting new clients in Nebraska, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

Do you accept insurance?

I am not in-network with any insurance companies. If you have out-of-network mental health or behavioral health benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement through your insurance company. If you are eligible, I can supply all paperwork and documentation needed in order for you to receive reimbursement. This means that you pay for session at the time of service and I do not personally bill your insurance company; instead your insurance company reimburses you for the cost.

I recommend clients contact their insurance company prior to their first session to determine their benefits. Most of my clients with out of network benefits have been able to receive personal reimbursement from their insurance provider.

**For the benefit and confidentiality of my clients, I have intentionally chosen not to become paneled with insurance. This allows you complete confidentiality in your care because your insurance company will not have access to your mental health records. It also allows YOU to have more control over your care and treatment, rather than have an insurance company dictate that for you.

Do you work with the LGBTQ+ population?

Absolutely! I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and have gone through specialized training to work with this population.
